PLEASE OBSERVE AND RESPECT OUR OFFICIAL OPENING DATE FOR YOUR SAFETY OUR CREWS ARE OUT KNOCKING DOWN ICE, REMOVING HAZARDS AND MAKING THE PARK SAFE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. PERSONS FOUND CLIMBING IN THE UNCOMPAHGRE GORGE RECREATIONAL USE AREA (UGRUA) PRIOR TO OUR OFFICIAL OPENING CAN AND WILL BE PROSECUTED FOR TRESPASSING – SHARPEN UP YOUR AXES!! ***

Temps have been extremely cold the past two weeks in Ouray and icemaking has been outstanding. Our crews are currently making ice 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We expect the entire park to open next week.

Ice climbing season is here. It’s time to get your gear, your mind and your body ready. It is also time to begin thinking about your climbing plans. We hope it will include a visit to Ouray.

Our 15th Annual Ouray Ice Festival and Climbing Competition occurs January 7 – 10, 2010. We hope to see you then! We have great slideshows planned with Andres Marin, Caroline George, Steve House, Majka Burhardt, Timmy Oneill and Dave Nettle. There will also be a premier screening of the movie THE NORTH FACE a wonderful recreation of the 1st ascent attempt on the Eiger. Our community dinners, FAT TIRE BEER and Superhero party will keep you full and fully entertained. Don’t miss our 15th anniversary.

Fund raising to support the Ice Park is primarily by donations and membership fees. Please consider becoming a member and supporting the sponsors that support the Ice Park. The primary fund raiser is the Ouray Ice Festival which has become a major climber’s rendezvous each January. Ouray locals create a spectacular event that features exhibition climbing, free clinics, seminars, slide shows, and gear demos.
