Get Your Axe In Gear!
THE ENTIRE OURAY ICE PARK IS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR THE 09/10 CLIMBING SEASON.
Climbing in the park has been exceptional so far this season with light traffic and great ice.
Our 15th Annual Ouray Ice Festival and Climbing Competition occured January 7 – 10, 2010. Josh Wharton won the men’s competition and Ines Papert took the women’s title. The event was outstanding with lots of money raised for the ice park and increased event attendance. We had great slideshows presented by Andres Marin, Caroline George, Steve House, Majka Burhardt, Timmy O’neill, Ines Papert and Dave Nettle. The world premier screening of “THE NORTH FACE” packed the theatre. Will Gadd managed to climb a meager 194 laps on the pick of the Vic and accumulated 25,414 vertical feet of ice in his ”Endless Ascent” For more details on this incredible feat check out www.endlessascent.org Our community dinners, FAT TIRE BEER and Guy Lacelle Superhero party kept everyone full, and fully entertained. See you next year!!
On a sad note, someone stole two (2) of our international flags off of lightpoles on mainstreet during the festival. If anyone has any information on whom took these flags on fest weekend, please give us a call at 970-325-4288 Thanks
If you have questions about the Ouray Ice Park or Ouray Ice Festival please feel free to call me at 970.325.4288. We no longer have a fax machine. Please use the email address provided on the contact page.

Ice Park Membership and Ice Park Merchandise purchasers:
Fund raising to support the Ice Park is primarily by donations and membership fees. Please consider becoming a member and supporting the sponsors that support the Ice Park. The primary fund raiser is the Ouray Ice Festival which has become a major climber’s rendezvous each January. Ouray locals create a spectacular event that features exhibition climbing, free clinics, seminars, slide shows, and gear demos.
