2023 - 2024 Institutional Group Event (IGE) Policy

As the Ouray Ice Park grows, our goal is to ensure the best experience for all of our users. To mitigate overcrowding and the potential risks that come with having various user groups in the Park, we have created the IGE (Institutional Group Event) Permit. The Institutional Group Event Permit is for all college and university groups, climbing clubs, and non-profits interested in operating in the Ouray Ice Park. Any organization that arrives at the Ouray Ice Park must have a Group Use Permit for the days they will be using the Ouray Ice Park.

The IGE Permitting process allows Ouray Ice Park, Inc. (OIPI) to continue the Ranger Program, which assists in the management of all groups and users of the Park. The Ranger Program has enabled OIPI to develop a data collection project on the Park's users, ensuring that future management strategies and changes are data-driven and fair to all.

If your organization wishes to operate in the Park for the 2023-2024 season, or if you have additional questions about the IGE permitting process, please email our Office Manager Christina Lujan at christinalujan@ourayicepark.com.

The deadline to apply for an IGE permit this season is November 1st, 2023.

Please Note…

Non-permitted groups will be ejected from the Park and will receive a one-season suspension from the permit application process. Permitted groups who violate the terms of the Institutional Group Event Agreement or do not follow the Ouray Ice Park rules may be ejected from the Park and may receive a suspension from the permit application process of a time to be determined by the Ouray Ice Park, Inc. Board of Directors. Additional group permits issued to organizations that have groups that do not abide by the terms of the Non-Commercial Group Use Agreement, or do not follow the rules and regulations of the Park may be revoked at any time.
