Press & Commercial Filming Permits

To protect the Park’s unique environment and ensure the safety of all visitors, any individual or organization filming or recording for purposes beyond personal use is required to obtain a Press/Media Pass. Revenue generated from these permits directly funds Park maintenance, conservation efforts, and staffing.

Permit Fee Structure

Please note that "publicity" or "exposure" is not accepted in lieu of payment. All applications are subject to approval. Once approved, you will be sent an invoice which must be paid prior to arrival.

  • Non-Profit Organization: $50

  • For-Profit / Independent Media: $2,000

  • Large Corporation / Commercial Agency: $5,000

  • Drone Authorization (Add-on): +$500

Operational Requirements

Before applying, please review the requirements for filming on our property:

  • Documentation: All crew members must sign a Liability Waiver and Licensing Agreement before entering the Park.

  • Safety & Gear: Crews must be self-sufficient and arrive with appropriate gear for the terrain:

    • General Areas: Winter clothing and microspikes required.

    • Climbing Areas: Helmets and crampons required.

  • Access: Press crews must possess the skills to access locations independently OR hire a local guide. Park staff do not act as guides.

  • Rules & Regulations: Unless explicitly approved, media crews must uphold all Park rules (including the 3-hour anchor limit, designated hours, and Leave No Trace principles).

  • Deliverables: The Park requires a digital copy of the finished product for our archives.

Special Accommodations & Staffing

Park Ice Farmers and Rangers are focused on operations and safety.

  • Interviews: Staff interviews are optional, not guaranteed, and considered "above and beyond" standard duties.

  • Special Access: Requests for early access, highlines, or staff assistance must be made in writing via the form below.

  • Additional Fees: Requests requiring staff time or special operations may incur additional fees.

The Ouray Ice Park Team will review your request. If approved, you will receive a Liability Waiver, a Licensing Agreement, and an Invoice via email. You are not authorized to film until these documents are signed and fees are paid. We will reach out to you regardless of approval status.
