🧊 Current CONDITIONS
We want to extend a major Thank You to everyone who came to The 2026 Ouray Ice Fest this year. It was certainly different, and we were all feeling the pressure of a slow start to winter. But, we made the most of it with y’all!
The week leading up to Ice Fest allowed farmers to build enough ice such that the South half of the park was opened to the public a day before we kicked off this year’s fest. We had a significant snowstorm come through late Friday the 23rd, and through Saturday the 24th. More consistently favorable conditions with which to soak the park rolled in with the storm, and we’ve been making the most of it.
One silver lining with a tamer start to this season is that all the ice we had made leading right up to our marquee weekend was fresh, and saw less traffic overall. And then with several consistently cold nights of farming, we have been able to create more volume in the south - and enough volume in areas in the north half of the park this week to open more terrain.
That said: Between the Bridges, Scottish Gullies, Five Fingers and Shithouse are all open. Stump Wall is still closed. You may encounter some shell ice in these more recently opened areas, especially at the tops of routes, and the bottoms of some climbs are still forming up. There are spot closures in these areas as specific routes still need a little more attention to be ready for sending. Please look out for orange and black closed signs and avoid these routes for now.
We’re so excited to see you all back in the Park. Come say hi to our Rangers at Dick’s Chalet and don’t forget to Become a Member and help support the Park and get in early every day :)
