The heart of the Ouray Ice Festival's action takes place during our annual Competition. Held in the famous Scottish Gullies, this event features elite ice and mixed climbers giving their all. Exciting Changes for 2026: We're reviving the classic Ouray competition spirit! Routes will return to a natural, mixed-alpine style, channeling climbers on rock and ice before culminating on the competition tower — a shift away from the UIAA format. Plus, Sunday now features our exciting Youth Competition, replacing the Speed event. We're stoked for this return to our roots and hope to see you (or your little crusher) there!
