Current Conditions and Open Areas

Open anchor count: 162

Open areas (with some spot closures):

Deep South**, South Park**, Kids’ Wall**, Two-Eyed Dog*, New Funtier, Grad School, School Room, Pic O the Vic, Lead Only*, Between the Bridges, Scottish Gullies, Five Fingers, Shithouse Wall

*Lead only areas are unmaintained and should be treated the same as backcountry ice. Read the route before climbing and make sure you have proper equipment.

**Deep South, South Park, Kids’ Wall will all be closed 1/3 through 1/5 for All In Ice Fest. Please plan accordingly.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Be mindful of spot closures in areas marked with orange CLOSED signs.

  • Some anchor pads, especially in South Park, have two climbs marked by tags on keychains. One may be open while the other is closed. Closed routes on anchor pads like this will have a CLOSED sign attached to its specific corresponding keychain tag. Check closely!

closed areas:

Stump Wall

Current Condtions:

WThe Holidays have come and gone and we’re on to 2025!  Lots of stuff is on deck this month.  We’ve already seen a steady uptick in climber numbers throughout the holiday week, and we’re glad to see it!

All-In Ice Fest is this coming weekend.  From Friday 1/3 through Sunday 1/5, Deep South, South Park and Kids Wall areas will be closed to the public and reserved for clinics during this event.  Please plan accordingly.

Stump Wall is not open just yet.  All other climbing areas are open, and there are still some spot closures marked with orange CLOSED signs.  Grad School is making a comeback in ’25 as well, located between New Funtier and School Room.  It is open, and there are four newly bolted anchors with chains. Please note that these routes are roughly 40 meters long and will require either a top belay or an 80 meter rope. The bottom of the gorge may also be a little tricky to navigate in this area for now.

With some favorable overnight temps forecasted, the total open anchor count should increase over the coming week as farmers will spray as much as allowable to continue to build ice. We’ll update everyone as new terrain is opened.

The farmers lowered a canoe into Scottish Gullies this week.  A canoe, you ask?  Yup.  It’ll help navigate a couple areas of deeper water in the gorge.

We’re also considering a Members Only night climb in designated areas on Friday, 1/17.  Stay tuned for more info.

Happy New Year from us at OIP!
